This song explores the impacts of climate change with lyrics written in collaboration with youth in Cambridge, MA after a series of workshops exploring what those impacts would look like in their own neighborhoods and lives.

Commissioned by the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and Rising Tides Music Press, this 2-part song tells a story of creating home in a new place. The lyrics are based on conversations with immigrant youth at the Sylvia Mendez Newcomers School (High Point, NC), who premiered “Dreams of Home” under the direction of Tucker Gamble.

A melody soars above mechanical rhythms in this reinvention of the Christmas classic, with aleatoric textures creating a reflective middle section (called “incredibly beautiful, shattering” by Pulitzer Prize winner Du Yun). Winner of the 2017 RED NOTE New Music Festival composition, choral division.
